Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana - Revisit

Wrapping up our Connecticut weekend, we revisited Frank Pepe's - my favorite non Sicilian pizza out of Italy. No idea why, but the thrill was definitely gone - still a great pie, but no more wtf for me.

Our Menu

White Clam Pizza *
Still really fun to eat, but I definitely lost that WTF feeling for this pie. Maybe, clams weren't as fresh tasting or the dough was not as crisp and flavorful.

The Original Tomato Pie with Shrimp **
My boy, FP, ordered the shrimp pie and this was so great. Still not a huge fan of the normal tomato pie since the sauce is a tad too sweet for me, but the shrimps were stuuupid good. So, tender, sweet, and garlicky. It was so unbelievable I need to cook me up some shrimps soon.

Watermelon and Lemon Italian Ice **
After a fun pizza, my favorite childhood thing to get was an italian ice in those ridiculous paper cups that always ends up leaking through the cup. We stopped by Libby's Italian Pastry shop next door to Pepe's (139 Wooster St) to get some. This was pure nostalgia - not too sweet, still refreshing and amped up watermelon flavor (probably chemically so).
