A quick stop to Venezula and Germany via NYC...

Met the fellas up for a quick drink which, as usual, was anything but. Great times and a lot of food for one night.

Arepas is basically a corn cake sandwich filled with fun ingredients. The corn cakes here were nice and crispy on the outside. The "La Surena" was filled with shredded chicken, sliced chorizo, creamy avocado slices, and a sweet/spicy chimi-churri sauce. Very fun stuff and reasonably priced - about $7. Unfortunately, this place is jam packed. We were there on a Wednesday at 8pm and there was a long line out the door. To the side though, there's a takeout place with a few seats - so your best bet is there if you show up late.

We were still hungry after the arepa sandwich and were initially thinking about Bar Stuzz, but the cabbie misheard the address and dropped us off near Time Square instead - a location I despise. The only thing that popped up was Hallo Berlin and it definitely did it's job - solid steins of beer and some great sausages. The bratwurst was very juicy and had great, great flavor - the best I've probably ever had. Currywurst was nice too. The accompanying sides were OK, with the crispy potatoes standing out. This place is huge on the comfort factor, but the music in the background is quite aggravating (Britney Spears at a German joint???) Good times for a great price - bout $15.
